Day 4- South to Avignon & Southern Rhone

Today we left Tain for a relatively quick trip to Montélimar, the nougat capital of the world, where we had a guided tour of how nougat is made and then sampled the different varieties.
From there it was on to lunch in a fairly remore farm house- a chambre d’hote or B&B French style, for a truffle themed lunch- truffles in every course, including dessert! A really authentic meal from that area of France- we all loved it.
We ended by visiting a truffle farmer and his dog, Emie, After an explanation of how truffles grow and how to use and preserve them, it was off into the oak forests to see how Emie searches for truffles- she found 4, and truffle season doesn’t start until November.
Tomorrow should be a great day in Gigondas and then later the University of Wine.
