Day 2 in Emilia Romagna: Barilla Academy Cooking Class

By October 9, 2012Winemakers

Today was Barilla Day! We spent the entire day at Barilla Academy with a very engaging cooking demonstration by a super star chef, Sergio Maria Teutonico. We had a multiple course lunch and Sergio showed us how to prepare each course. He is truly a great teacher and an Italian version of Mario Batalli. If you’d like the recipes, just send me an email at info@wineloverstours.com:

Chicken salad with balsamic venegar and pine nuts

Tagliatelle with Porcini mushrooms

Pan-fried pork filet cooked with Marsala wine

Yogurt bavarese with strawberry compote

Sergio's cooking demonstration

After lunch we went to the Barilla pasta factory and were astounded by the gigantic facility, the largest producer of pasta in the world: 9 tons of pasta per day.
