Invitation from Catalonia

By June 3, 2013Wine Tours

Here I am back in Spain, the 3rd time this year! I am quickly becoming a Spanophile. This is compliments of the Buy Catalunya campaign sponsored by the Tourist Board of Catalunia. I am part of a group of 100+ tour operators (only two Americans) invited for an in depth appreciation of what this area offers. It’s a whirlwind tour and I probably won’t have the time to update this blog daily but here’s the itinerary; it’s a tough job but somebody has to do it:

Monday June 3- arrival in Barcelona, transfer to our hotel Mon Sant Benet; lunch; guided tour of the monastery Sant Benet; welcome dinner

Tuesday June 4- transfer to Sant Sadurni d’Anoia for tours and tasting at Freixenet, electric bicycle tour of Penedes; lunch in the vineyards of Albet i Noya plus a vineyard workshop; departure to Priorat; check in at Hostal Sport in Falset, and dinner and olive oil tasting in Hostal Sport

Wednesday June 5- depart for Gratallops with a hiking tour “Vines of the Holy Virgin trekking tour,” visit and tasting at Cellers d’Scala Dei; visit to Siurana (last holdout of the Saracens in Spain) and brunch in the Hotel La Siuranella; depart for Poblet after lunch with a guided tour of the Poblet Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage;  depart for Prullans in the Pyrenees and check in at the Hotel Muntanya and Spa;

Thursday June 6- day long workshop ‘Buy Catalunya’; transfer to La Seu d’Urgell and a walk in the Parc Olimpic del Segre; farewell dinner and party
