Wine Spectator Top 100 Wines – 25% Ain’t Too Shabby

Wine Lovers always look forward to December when the Wine Spectator publishes its selections for the top 100 wines of the year.  And we at Wine Lovers Tours like to keep tabs on how many of the top wineries we’ve visited over the course of the last 30 years.

We are proud to say that our tours have visited 23 of this year’s most exciting wineries. In fact our most recent visit was to Klein Constantia last April, #10 on the list. The Vin de Constance is a true nectar of the gods. Since each of our tours is custom made, we do a lot of reviewing before we settle on the wineries to visit. Keep in mind that we don’t do a lot of visits each day so each selection has to fit a purpose. We purposely select a cross

section of wineries of different dimensions and scope: from true garagistes to huge producers. We’ve been to Cantine Cooperative Riunite in Emilia Romagna (65 million bottles annually) and to Campania’a Montevetrano (30,000 bottles). We select wineries that first and foremost produce outstanding wines, and secondly offer an interesting perspective. Many are in historic buildings and many also have lunch facilties, which for us is a trifecta of wine, food and culture.

So for the record here are the wineries from the 2015 Top 100 that our groups have been fortunate to visit:
