Through November 12-17, Venice experienced the 2nd worst flood in its history. More than 85% of the city flooded causing immense damage to its cultural and historical heritage as well as its homes and

businesses.
As an Italian American who has visited Venice numerous times, I am proud of this magnificent unique city. But anyone who cherishes historical legacies should also feel the pain that Venetians are experiencing.
While we can pray for a recovery, we can also help with the enormous financial cost of rehabilitation. An organization which I trust is the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF). NIAF has been in contact with the Italian Embassy and the city of Venice to identify crucial projects to support.
I encourage all lovers of culture to consider donating to the relief fund of NIAF. You can make a secure donation here.
