Lavender and Wine: The Magic of Provence
Experience Provence by Land and a 5-day River Cruise on the Rhone
Provence evokes images of fields of lavender and olive groves. It’s a sun-soaked paradise for French wine tasting which welcomes visitors with open arms and spectacular scenery around every bend in the road.
Well before Tuscany became a popular tourist destination, there was Provence, which was popularized by Peter Mayle and his best-selling book, “A Year in Provence.” With vivid colors (sunflowers, vineyards, lavender and seas), rolling hillsides, mountain gorges and scenic towns, this is truly, one of the most beautiful and picturesque areas of France.
We start in Nice on October 13 and proceed to the heart of Provence for 3 nights, tasting wines and eating the best food France has to offer.
Our next stop is Lyon, the culinary capital of France (and reputed by some as the culinary capital of the world) where we get ready for our 5-day cruise on the Rhone River. When we leave from Lyon on October 21, we’ll carry home cherished memories of glorious moments spent in this idyllic part of France.
